Well today I have a treat for you! I had the pleasure of working with the lovely Vikki McCombie for her book A New Beginning for Nanci. It was a pleasure to help bring Vikki's vision to life and if you're looking for a sweet military read, I'm positive this is right up your ally. Picture

On the day Nanci discovers she’s going to have a baby, she receives the devastating news every Navy SEAL’s wife never wants to hear. Her husband’s death sends her into the depths of despair. As she struggles to accept, she’s grateful for the support from the officer assigned to her.

Will she turn to God letting Him show her the path to a new beginning, or will fear of loving and losing keep her locked in the past?

When Lt. Daniel Foster’s appointed to assist a SEAL’s widow, the last thing he expects is a woman who can break through the barricade guarding his heart. As he helps her with the aftermath, he offers her a shoulder to lean on, but would like to offer more.

Should he allow their friendship to blossom and trust God will show him lowering his defenses is the only way to love?

After setting Tiger on the slate floor, Nanci checked her voice mail on the home phone, but still no call from Bryan. Of course, his mission was a secret, as usual. She had no idea what time zone he was in. It could be the middle of the night for him. After feeding the cat, she settled on the couch with the paperback she’d purchased earlier in the day. Tiger curled beside her, and she became engrossed in the book, especially the part concerning the first trimester of pregnancy.

The doorbell rang.
How odd.

She couldn’t imagine who it could be. Probably some kids selling something.

But a rush of anxiety flooded her system as icy prickles raced along her arms.

The doorbell rang again.
She laid her book down, went to the door, and used the peep hole to look out. Three men in Navy uniforms stood on her front porch.
Her heart caught in her throat.
Three men usually meant bad news, especially naval officers.
No, maybe they have the wrong house. Maybe they’re collecting money for some type of charity.
Anything but what it might mean.
Her body began to shake.
Her knees grew weak.
No, no! She would not allow those terrifying thoughts to enter her consciousness even for a moment.
Nonetheless, her hand trembled as she opened the door. Her voice shook as she said, “Hello. W-what can I d-do for you?”
The older officer removed his cover, tucking it under his arm. “Good afternoon, we’re here to see Mrs. Bryan Bowman.”

“I’m Mrs. Bowman. Please, c-come in.” Terror gripped her as she showed them into the living room.

Her mind screamed--Oh, God, please don’t let Bryan be hurt.

Author Note:
As a Navy wife for many years, I know how hard it is to put fears at bay and go on with your life when your loved one is far from home. I want to thank all the military men and women who serve and protect our great country, along with their families who support and love them.
I spent over twenty years in Hampton Roads, Virginia and grew to love the area. I love the ocean and enjoyed its beauty almost every day as I traveled from Hampton to Virginia Beach where I worked. When this story came to me, I had to make Virginia Beach the setting.
What Nanci goes through in A New Beginning for Nanci is what countless military wives have faced since the creation of our nation. What I want to show in this story is that there is always a new beginning out there. We just have to go after it and not allow tragedy to keep us frozen in fear.

There are lessons learned in this love story. Nanci could have easily stayed locked in her grief instead of seeking God’s help. Both she and Daniel were brought up in faith-based homes, but they had drifted away. Fortunately for them, they chose to return to their childhood faith which helped them move forward into God’s light, depending on Him to guide them to a new beginning that will stand the test of time.

While this is definitely an inspirational romance, it does have a couple of scenes with minimal sensual touches and kissing. Nanci and Daniel have a strong physical attraction between them, so it is hard to resist, but never fear, they do not fully give in to temptation.

<![CDATA[Challenge Accepted...]]>Sun, 30 Aug 2015 18:00:56 GMThttp://danielledoolittle.weebly.com/blog/challenge-acceptedOkay guys. I was tagged not once, but TWICE for the 7/7/7 challenge. Looking at you Brent Williamson and Krysta Man.

The basics of the challenge are simple: starting at the seventh line of the seventh page of a current WIP post the next seven lines and tag seven more authors to join in the fun. (Shouldn't there be one more seven in the challenge?)

Easy enough.

AND since Krysta made a point to mention my current #PitchWars entry, LIKE WATER, in her post, I figured I would share a bit of it here.

But first....a quick blurb. Just so you know what's going on. Or you can scroll past it and get to the word. Either way.

Seventeen-year-old Micah Donaldson's trying to cope with the death of his twin when a mysterious, possibly crazy (definitely dangerous), young man named Jude shows up claiming he knew Micah's brother and he needs Micah to do something insane: pretend to be his twin.

It should have been easy enough to fool people into believing Micah was the other Donaldson twin, but nothing in his life has ever been simple. Micah sneaks back to the Gilbert Academy, the exclusive boarding school his brother attended, only to sink into a world of telepaths, terrorist plots, and more sexual tension that you can shake a stick at.

As Micah learns more about the school, Jude, and the plan to end freewill on a global scale, his circle of trust shrinks to just one. If he can't trust the guy his heart's falling for, who can say he's going to get out of Gilbert alive?

Okay, now that the scene's set, here's the juicy bits! So there's eight lines here, but I wanted (needed) to give you the whole paragraph.

As soon as we cleared the doors I was hit by a wave of dizziness. The smell of the ER brought back some shitty memories. Things better not thought of when everyone here was acting wacked out of their gourds. Good thing Jamie'd been gone before he made it here. My stomach roiled. Not that it did him any good. They'd tried bringing him back. Over and over again until my mom's screams stopped them.

And now it's my turn to tag some people.
<![CDATA[Prince Henry's Back and Better Than Ever!]]>Sun, 16 Aug 2015 00:06:46 GMThttp://danielledoolittle.weebly.com/blog/prince-henrys-back-and-better-than-everIf you guys have been around for a minute you'll know I had a book released a while ago. A book I adore. A book that unfortunately got tangled up with the wrong publisher. Sounds a bit like Henry's story doesn't it?

Earlier this year I signed ROYAL PAIN with Clean Reads Press! That's right. Henry and Carleigh are back on SEPTEMBER 1, 2015 and I'm so, so, SO excited.

What can you expect?

The story has been revamped. Everyone you loved before is still there. And if you didn't get the chance to read it before you'll love everyone. I promise.

Even Henry.

ANYWHO! On top of some minor story changes ROYAL PAIN also got an amazing new cover.

Seriously you guys, it's amazing.

If you're new here and have no idea what ROYAL PAIN is and why you might not be Henry's biggest fan at first I'll help you out with a little blurb:

Falling in love can be a royal pain.

Prince Henry Fitzgerald's life has taken a drastic turn. The once high flying playboy finds himself grounded and forced into rehab after one too many wild nights. Changing his ways wasn't in the cards, a fact he makes loud and clear during treatment. But when he faces off with feisty horse trainer, Carleigh Philips, Henry starts thinking he's not as far gone as everyone-including himself-thought.

Carleigh Philips has had her fill of arrogant, too good looking to be true men. Since discovering her ex in bed with another woman she's contented herself with training the horses on her family's ranch turned rehabilitation center. But when Prince Henry comes storming into her life she can't ignore him, even if half the time he makes her want to scream, she learns that some men are worth taking a risk on.

When a series of accidents add up to foul play, Henry must set aside his fear of failure and act quickly to save the woman who made him believe he could be a better man.

Have I teased you enough? Would you like a peek at the cover?

Keep scrolling

and scrolling....

...just a bit more.

Beautiful right?

I'll give you a minute.

You can add ROYAL PAIN to Goodreads here.

And that guy on the cover? His name's Cody Johnvin. You can find him on Facebook here. I'm sure he'd love to hear how much you love this cover too!
<![CDATA[Big Bad Wolfe cover reveal]]>Thu, 19 Mar 2015 12:48:09 GMThttp://danielledoolittle.weebly.com/blog/big-bas-wolfe-cover-reveal

It's here.

It's HERE!

Y'all, if you know you'll know I've been twitchy for months about having to keep the cover for Big Bad Wolfe a secret.

But it's finally here! The day I can share it with all of you! *bounces*

Don't forget to add BBW to your Goodreads TBR list and stay tuned for its release in April.

Sarah Maxwell had spent years trying to forget the one man who broke her heart. She'd buried herself in her family's business never expecting to lay eyes on him again...until Falon Wolfe walked into the conference room, bringing a plan to turn the agency around along with all those unrequited feelings.

Falon was the one thing in her life she could never forget. And she’d tried. For nine years she tried forgetting the scent of his skin and the way his body felt against hers. She had never planned on seeing him again after that one night of pure bliss. A night he obviously didn’t remember. He’s cold, detached and she has the sudden urge to reignite the fires of the past.

He can't get her out of his head...

Falon Wolfe was a man hardened by a life on the wrong side of town and the personal drive that made him the success he was. A self-made financial success story, Falon traveled around the world turning failing companies around—by any means necessary.

At the request of his estranged grandfather Falon finds himself at Maxwell, Williams and Blake, a failing talent agency in the heart of the city he vowed never to return to. When he agreed he thought that it would be a simple job. He had never been more wrong. The first time he laid eyes on the feisty Sarah Maxwell she stirred something in him he hadn’t felt in a very long time, and he wanted nothing to do with it. What he did want was Sarah, as many ways as possible, while he was in Chicago. When the job was done so was she, that’s the way it worked, always had always will. But when Falon starts dreaming of the luscious redhead he wonders why his subconscious is connecting her with his past and why he can’t shake the feeling that she is so familiar.

When feelings change from cold agendas to blazing passion Sarah and Falon must come clean about their motives or risk losing everything. Sarah must move past her insecurities and Falon's frigid walls if she truly wants to tame the Big Bad Wolfe.

<![CDATA[#Midweek Tease: Regret]]>Wed, 08 Oct 2014 17:45:55 GMThttp://danielledoolittle.weebly.com/blog/midweek-tease-regret

Welcome back everyone! I took last week off the Tease but I'm back.

This week I'm giving you guys another peek into the world of my latest release, Regret.

My main character, Penelope, discovers a lot about herself and her heritage throught the novel...sometime this knowledge comes to her in dreams.

The Tease:

“Welcome back, my pet.” His eerie voice greeted me from the darkness. “What do you think of our little place I have created for you?”

I couldn’t hide the shiver that worked its way down my spine at his mention of the overdone bedroom. Whether it was from fear or disgust I couldn’t tell—a mixture of both, probably. The fire was out this time and I tried to see into the darkness as I searched for the source of his voice.

“You’re sick, you know that?”

Bravado was hard to pull off in bare feet and a linen nightgown, but I tried my best. I wasn’t going to let this monster get to me. I wouldn’t give him the satisfaction.

“It’s not going to work, you know.” He laughed from the darkness. “I always get what I want...one way or another.”

His chilling laugh filled the room as I felt something graze my shoulder. I spun in a tight circle, looking for a sign of movement that would give a hit of his location. My fear was quickly being replaced by annoyance with his little game.

“What, are you not man enough to face me in the light? You have to slink around in the darkness?”

A hiss to my left was the only warning I had before I found myself pinned to a cold stone wall. Drake’s furious eyes bore into mine from mere inches away. His cold breath tickled my nose as he fought to gain control.

“Do not test your luck, little girl. Our time has yet to come. But when it does I promise you will pay for that remark.”

I looked back defiantly, silently willing him to do his worst and get it over with. Suddenly, his deranged laughter filled the room once more as I was abruptly released to slide boneless to the floor.

“Soon, my pet, soon.”

Instant awareness isn’t all it’s chalked up to be. One minute I was caught in the tangles of another one of my Drake-influenced dreams, and the next I was sitting straight up in bed trying to catch my breath. It was three in the morning and there was little chance I was going to get back to sleep.

“Thank God tomorrow’s Sunday,” I whispered to myself between panting breaths.

With a groan I remembered how I would be spending my Sunday.

After my little fainting spell everyone, besides me, agreed it was best if I went home with

my dad and tried to get some rest. I had reluctantly given in after each of the Whitmores stated they wouldn’t be able to teach me if I wasn’t well rested.

“There’s a lot of mental strain, Penny,” Julius said. “Please go get some rest. First thing in the morning you can come back and we will begin.”

I was still reluctant to leave because Kane still owed me some answers. That memory stirred up so many emotions that I wasn’t sure I knew how to deal with them. What did it mean that we had met before? How did that relate to us? If there really was an us, that is.

“Tomorrow. Please don’t worry, I’ll explain everything that I can,” he whispered while running the back of his knuckles along my cheekbone. “Besides, you still owe me a few answers as well.”

<![CDATA[#MWTease: REGRET (finally)]]>Wed, 24 Sep 2014 14:40:17 GMThttp://danielledoolittle.weebly.com/blog/mwtease-regret-finally

AHHHH! Y'all! It's finally here!

Yesterday was Regret's book birthday *dances* and I can finally share a bit of it with you on the tease.

I know.

I know.

I've switched gears nearly every week... BUT I'm just too excited about this release!

IF you want to read more of the story from the teas last week you can find the full first chapter on SYTYCW

So without further ado...

Eighteen-year-old Penelope Green doesn't have any reason to believe her senior year will be anything but ordinary.

Boy was she wrong...

There's a new family in her small Martha's Vineyard community and they're about to flip her world upside down; none more so that the brooding, wide-shouldered Kane Whitmore.

Connected in ways she never dreamed possible, Penelope must trust Kane and her growing feelings for him as his family to guides her through her missing past and a world she never knew existed—a world she'd suddenly become the center of.

Learning she's a Guardian with the ability to heal she can handle. It's the dreams—both frightening and heart-wrenching—that nearly brings her to her knees. But when madman's vengeful plot puts her loved ones at risk, Penelope is willing to sacrifice anything to keep them safe...even her own life.

“What’s with him?” Kane asked quietly from where he sat next to me, pretending we were watching TV.

“I think he’s broken,” I whispered back, looking over at Dad who still had that lost sort of look on his face.

“Well, after lunch we went for a walk to try and see if I could wrangle a little critter into assisting my healing studies.”

“And we found a gull down by the water with a broken wing. Dad sort of watched me magically put it back together again.” The words tumbled out of my mouth like a confession.

“I see,” Kane said with a sage nod.

“You see? I broke my own father and the only thing you can say is ‘I see’?”

“Don’t worry about him.” Kane smiled gently at my disbelieving look. “Have you forgotten

you have a tool to gauge his reaction?”

Kane watched with amusement as realization slowly made its way across my face. How

could I have forgotten? I closed my eyes and pushed out my energy. Instantly, I picked up my dad’s confusion. But there was something else there too, like he was trying to solve a very complicated math problem.

“You dad has a very scientific mind. Comes in handy, I’m sure, for his line of work, but when explaining something he doesn’t understand and sees as supernatural it’s a hindrance. Give him time to work it out, compartmentalize it, and I’m sure he’ll come back swinging.”

“I know you’re talking about me,” Dad said without looking in our direction. “I may be old, but these ears still work just fine.”

“See, coming out swinging,” Kane whispered in my ear.

“Dad, you’re only in your forties. If your hearing was going out so soon I would have far more concerns than that of your already questionable mental health.” I laughed as he shot a pillow at my face without turning his eyes away from the scene outside the window.

“Watch it,” he said, laughter in his voice. “Or I’ll have to team up with Kane there to get you back.”

I turned to Kane in mock horror. “You wouldn’t dare!”

“I don’t know about that,” he answered with a wink. “It would be best to stay on his good side.”

I answered that with the pillow my dad had tossed. To his face.

“I like the way that boy thinks,” Dad said, standing to stretch the muscles in his back. “I’m going to see if your aunt and uncle want me to pick the girls up from school. Doesn’t seem right that they should have to make the trip again.”

“I’m sure they won’t mind.”

“I insist.” Dad finally turned in our direction. “Besides, it gets me away from you lovebirds. When I said that it was okay for you to date my daughter, I didn’t think that you would be doing so much of it in my presence.”

Kane threw his head back and laughed as my face turned crimson. One look at me, and Dad started laughing too.

“I told you I would get him in on it,” he said between chuckles. “But I didn’t think that it would be so easy.”

At my glare, Dad wisely went to the den to seek out Julius and Amelie.

“Sorry,” Kane said when I turned the look on him. “I didn’t know what he was up to at first but then, once I did, I couldn’t miss out on seeing you blush.”

I narrowed my eyes and his expression softened. He cupped my check, leaned in and kissed the tip of my nose. “Come on, you can’t be mad.”

“And why’s that?”

“Because I happen to think that your blushes are adorable.”

“You do realize how cheesy you sound right now, right?”

“I didn’t say stop,” I said with a saucy smirk. “Go on telling me how adorable I am.”

Kane growled at me and silenced my laughter with a sweet kiss that turned into a little more than a sweet kiss so quickly it took both of us by surprise. It went on for a while before Kane summoned his superhuman willpower and began pulling back by degrees. After a moment, he ended the kiss entirely by resting his forehead against mine. My eyes were still closed and I was still half lost in his kiss when he spoke.

“Must I always be the responsible one?”

“Your father will be walking through this room any minute now and you were just about

ready to let me ravish you on the couch.”

I giggled. A kiss like that would addle any girl’s brain. “Who says ravish anymore?”

He sighed and his mint-scented breath across my lips made me want to kiss him some more.

“Oh no, you don’t,” Kane said, putting some distance between us. “I’m already in deep

water with your dad. I’m not about to pile on more trouble.”

“I suppose you’re right.” I couldn’t help the pout that formed on my lips. “Can’t blame a girl for trying.”

“Get over here,” Kane said with a sigh, then tucked me under his arm while he searched for

something on the television. “And don’t pout. It’ll only get us into trouble.”

Not knowing what he meant I looked up at him. The heated look he shot me was answer enough and I quickly wiped the pout off my face. It really wouldn’t be a good idea for Dad to walk in on us fulfilling those promises that were in Kane’s eyes. He’d lock me away in my room until I was thirty.

<![CDATA[#MWTease: A Little Something Different]]>Wed, 17 Sep 2014 18:19:42 GMThttp://danielledoolittle.weebly.com/blog/mwtease-a-little-something-differentPicture
Hi all!! So if you didn't know it's that time again...

SYTYCW is in full swing and I've found myself in a bit of a pickle. I'm trying to decide which manuscript to enter into the contest. My choices are: The vamp you've been enjoying the past few weeks and the tease I'm about to share with you.

Care to help me decide?

The set up: Our heroine, Olivia, has crashed the party of billionaire tycoon, Raffaele Ferrarotto in search of answers. What she finds is a dangerously sexy man with a proposition: He'll help her find her brother...in exchange for Olivia in his bed.

This weeks tease:

“Why are you here?” He broke the silence that had settled between them.

“To dance?” She could feel his eyes on her and had a sinking feeling her saw through her glossy exterior.

His hand gave hers a quick threatening squeeze. “Care to give me the truth this time?”

Scanning the dancers around her for a sign of anyone paying attention to them, she tried to figure out the best course of action. She could tell him the truth and probably never learn what happened to Jax because she would surely be thrown out immediately. Or she could try and buy herself some more time and hopefully a few answers.

“You might as well tell me. With one quick signal I can have my security summoned in an instant,” his words brushed over her ear as he leaned closer. “Wouldn’t want to create a scene now would we?”

Taking a deep breath she tried to hide the fact that her entire body wanted to shudder at the feel of his strong body brushing against hers.

“I see I’ve gotten your attention.” Boy did he ever. Probably not in the way he wanted but she wasn’t about to draw his notice to the reason for her body’s reaction. “Now are you going to act like an adult and tell me what’s going on? I know you weren’t on my guest list. I would have remembered you.” His warm hand on the bare skin of her back had her heart doing crazy things in her chest and she had the sinking suspicion he knew what he was doing to her.

“Yes, well...I was given an invitation from a friend.”

“Would this friend have had the pleasure of accompanying you this evening?”

“Er—unfortunately he's out of town.”

“So you just decided to come alone? To an event where you knew no one?” She really should've thought about her cover story a little more but the man flustered her beyond thinking.

“I had the dress?” Not exactly confident anymore, she hadn't meant to let her bravado slip.

“It is quite a dress to be sure.” He ran the tips of his fingers up her exposed spine. “Almost worth looking past your lies.”

Just like that, the feel of his arms around her went from pleasant to caging. Olivia just knew fighting against his hold would give him a sense of satisfaction. She tried to keep her frame relaxed as she tried to meet his gaze. “I don't know what you mean.”

“Please spare me more untruths. I've had enough female games to last me a lifetime.” The bitterness in his voice made her want to ask questions. Questions she had no right to and she knew it. She wasn't there to find out what made the man tick. She was there to discover what he did to her brother and finding any bit of humanity in Raffaele Ferrarotto would be the biggest mistake she could make.

Hope you enjoyed the tease! And as always don't forget to check out the other authors on the hop!

<![CDATA[#MWTease]]>Wed, 10 Sep 2014 18:45:45 GMThttp://danielledoolittle.weebly.com/blog/mwteasePicture
Hey everyone! So I scheduled this post to go live this morning but APPARENTLY there's a glitch somewhere.

Since you guys asked so nicely last week about the poor dear count I figured I'd give you another taste (enjoy the pun).

So here you are!

This Weeks Tease:

“It's going to be okay,” she crooned in a soothing voice she heard Will use when calming his lover after a particularly expensive shopping spree. If it worked on an angry lawyer it had to work on a dying man right? No. He wasn't going to die. Alyssa reached into her back pocket with her other hand. “I'll get help. Call the police.”

“No,” the deep gravel of his voice rasped across her skin.

“No. Police,” he said in a stronger tone. “Just help me up.”

“Uh. I'm pretty sure you shouldn't be standing after trying to stop a knife with your ribcage.”

“Dammit woman, just help me up. I can't let him escape,” he was growling now and call her sick but in that moment Alyssa found the commanding tone of the man bleeding out in front of her the hottest thing she had ever heard.

“You're bulky friend?” She pressed a hand to his chest when he made a move to sit. “He's gone.”

“Took off after I shot at him.”

“At him?”

“Well yeah. I mean he was so big how could you miss right? But when I opened my eyes he was just...gone.”

Her bleeding victim muttered something unflattering under his breath about women and guns before trying once more to sit.

“Will you just stop and let me call an ambulance?”

“I don't need an ambulance,” he gritted out as she pressed just a bit too hard on his wounded chest.

“Sure.” She arched a brow at him even though she knew there was no way he could see it in the shadows. “Let me guess, it's just a flesh wound.”

“Precisely. Now let me up woman.”

Alyssa liked an alpha male as much as the next girl but all this woman crap was getting on her last nerve. Even if the guy was in pain and bleeding all over the concrete, hadn't he heard of equal rights?

“Fine. But don't say I didn't warn you.” Huffing she pulled her had off the rippling muscles of his chest and stood. She'd let him try to stand and when he went crashing back down she could only pray he would knock himself out and she could get him the help he needed.

She squinted through the darkness as he twisted and used his strong arms to push himself onto his hands and knees. His entire body shivered and she thought for sure he was going to go down. Her gaze was drawn to the hard lines of his back. The bold build of his shoulders shaking as he hung his head. The struggle to gain his feet obviously taking a monumental effort.

“Look why don't you just lie back down—”

His harsh laughter cut her off as he straightened his torso. On his knees before her Alyssa got her first true sense of how massive the man really was. In the position he was in all he had to do was turn his head and his mouth would be even with her breasts. Who were wonton things reacting in the most inappropriate way to the show of masculine strength in front of her. He was injured, possibly on the verge of blacking out from blood loss and all her body could thing about was how good it would feel to have those meaty arms holding her in place while he nuzzled her flesh until she was begging for more.

Hope you enjoyed it!

Don't forget to keep the tease going and check out the other authors on the hop! See you next week!

<![CDATA[#MWTease: A little PNR for you!]]>Wed, 03 Sep 2014 17:33:14 GMThttp://danielledoolittle.weebly.com/blog/mwtease-a-little-pnr-for-youPicture
Hi guys! It's Wednesday again which means it's time for another teaser. This week we're moving from YA to something a little more adult. I've been working on this vampire story a friend and I have affectionately named Count VonPantymelter. He's a steamy one for sure!

Set up: Alyssa, our heroine, has just been fired from her job and is leaving the building when she comes across two huge figures fighting in the darkness of a parking structure.

This Week's Teaser:

“D-don't come any closer,” she squeaked out instantly angry with herself for sounding so weak. “I swear. Take one step and I'll shoot.”

The figure merely tilted his head like a confused dog at her threat and took a lumbering step toward the edge of the shadow. More importantly a lumbering step toward her.

“I warned you,” she whispered before closing her eyes, taking a deep breath and pulling the trigger.

When the shot wasn't followed by a roar of pain she cracked an eye open expecting to come face to face with seven feet of pissed off mugger. The empty space where the giant had been standing just seconds before was a surprise. How could a man that big move so fast as to avoid a bullet? She hadn't even heard him run.

A painful groan pulled her focus to the floor. Her fingers lost their grip in her gun as she ran to the man laying in the shadows. Completely forgetting the danger, she ran to the edge of the shadow hesitating to step into it.

“Hello? Are you okay?” she asked the crumpled form. Stupid question. The man had just been stabbed in the chest of course he's not okay. So sue her if her synapses took a minute to reboot and catch up after facing down death by steroid-raging mugger.

The man made a pitiful noise and she took a breath stepping into the darkness. It took a second for her eyes to adjust. It shouldn't have been that dark in the middle of the city even if the sun had set an hour ago. When she could finally see her hand in front of her face, Alyssa focused on the form—the very large, very muscled form—a few feet away. Large booted feet led to long, jean clad legs. She gulped when the man moaned and rolled onto his back giving her a good idea of how big he would be on his feet. His muscular legs ended at a trim, but wide waist that tapered out into shoulders so wide she wondered how the dark fabric of his shirt contained all that muscle.

Focusing on ripple of muscle as he shifted she noticed a darker patch on the front of his shirt growing steadily larger. Shit. He'd been stabbed and you're just standing there wondering how all those muscles would feel under your hands. Alyssa gave herself a mental shake and moved to his side. Kneeling, she felt herself slip in something slick and warm. Knowing it was his blood she tried not to heave as she placed a hand on the cool skin of his cheek.

<![CDATA[Blog Tour: Character interview with Solomon from Blood and Gold by Anais Morgan]]>Wed, 03 Sep 2014 16:19:02 GMThttp://danielledoolittle.weebly.com/blog/blog-tour-character-interview-with-solomon-from-blood-and-gold-by-anais-morgan
Hello ladies and gents. Today I have a wonderful surprise! Solomon from Alanis Morgan's Blood and Gold has decided to take a few moments out of his busy —er— schedule to stop by for a chat.

First, a bit about Blood and Gold.

She will feed them or die. Or both.

Just when eighteen-year-old Mary Scott is ready to go to culinary school, she’s captured and held prisoner by The Order-a religious group that sells humans to vampires. Mary is sent to become the blood slave to the Wictreds, a family of three vampires. There’s Deacon, the gentleman with a short temper, Solomon, sarcastic one with some serious mood swings, and Cain, the child-like one that has a problem with self control. Her only hope is to escape, but she has a single chance. If she’s caught she’ll be killed to keep her silent.

As time passes, Mary’s days become numbered. After all, she has only so much blood. The longer she’s in the house, the more time she spends with Solomon. When he’s not toying with her, he’s actually a nice guy and protects her from his brothers. Mary loves his company and soon his presence makes her heart flutter. But humans and vampires must be separate, and Deacon will do anything to keep the family honor intact.

*fans self* What do you say we get to know Solomon a bit better, hm?

D: Hello, it's so great to meet you. I've heard wonderful things about you.

S: Wonderful? Really?

D: *blushes* Yes, well...let's just jump right in shall we? What's your birthday? How old are you really? Get anything good this year?

S: My birthday…To be honest, I never asked about my birthday. It wasn’t something I woke up early for and unwrapped presents. My family wasn’t what you’d call a deep loving group. My older brother, Deacon, raised me and my twin, Cain. As for my age, I’m twenty-five. Yes, twenty-five human years. My kind isn’t immortal, but the fear we cause is.

D: *shivers* That's really good to know. No presents? Now I'm sure there's some readers out there who'd be happy to give you something to unwrap.

D: Okay, next question. Can you list 3 words that describe you?

S: I can be real about this. I know exactly what I am. My words are arrogant, chauvinistic to humans, and lonely.

D: If you could keep just one material item what would it be?

S: My brassard.

D: Why?

S: Not many understand why I wear it, but it’s an honor thing. I wear it out of pride for who I am and what I do. Plus, it really brings out my bicep.

D:*fans self* Yes it does. So, who would play you in a movie?

S: I don’t watch very often, but I do enjoy Alexsander Skarsgard. He makes a decent vampire, and I find his sense of self worth amazing. He is a little older than I am, but the man has style.

D: Since you're feeling so honest, if you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

S: It’s not really fair to the humans that I am such a fabulous hunter. It would make the game more interesting if I had a handicap.

D: If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?

S: I’d want to go back to the time when vampires were feared. When humans tried to tell themselves that garlic and wooden stakes would kill us. Before we were made into shiny, crying love interests.

D: What is the most important thing to you?

S: If you would have asked me a few months ago, I would have said nothing is important. Today, well, maybe you should read my book to find out what I hold precious.

D: Oh, I see what you did there. What's the most interesting thing about you?

S: Few know this, but I have a very strong fear of thunderstorms. Yes, I know, that makes me sound like a pussy. But everyone has to have a flaw.

D: What’s the one question you hoped I wouldn’t ask in this interview? And the answer?

S: I hoped you wouldn’t have asked if I had sex that I regretted, because I have. Screwing your brother’s girlfriend while he watched will probably put my ass in the nut farm.

D:Are you an animal lover?

S: I’ve never been around animals. Vampires aren’t exactly cat hoarders.

D: Describe your perfect day:

S: A beautiful woman on the run, her body draped in gold, her eyes wide with fear, and me chasing her until she’s too tired to scream. And then I give her enough pleasure to make her.

D: Oh wow, Mary sure is a luck girl. Can you tell me (and those who don't know) how did you meet Mary? What was your first impression?

S: My Virgin, Mary, was brought to my house to become Cain and I’s new blood slave. I met her in the hall while she was trying to break through a window. I will say she fought harder than most. My first impression was that I needed to sink more than my fangs into my new toy.

D: Speaking of, you two have had a few...rocky bits in your relationship. Care to share?

S: Our whole relationship gives me motion sickness. She was given to me to feed me until she was dry. I just wanted to play with her, but between Cain losing himself in her blood and Deacon beating her because she interrupts the status quo, it hasn’t been easy. But those moments where it’s just us listening to music or working on a puzzle make it all worth it.

That's about all the time we have today. Thank you Solomon for being so—candid with me today.
