But lucky for you, it's the sequel to Regret so I can give you a little set up from the first book to really get you into the story!

This Weeks Tease:
There are some things a girl just dreads telling her father. Some things that make the skin crawl and that trusty flight instinct kick in. I mean would it really make that big a difference if he knew? Would he be better off knowing?
“You have to tell him,” Kane cupped my check in his large hand, lending me some of his strength. “He deserves to know.”
“I know,” I sighed. “I just don’t know how to do it.”
“Just stick to the facts.”
Just the facts. The fact was not only must my dad adjust to the idea I was a Guardian, an ancient race of people charged with protecting the Earth and all those who inhabit it. But now he must learn that his darling daughter can pull a sword of fire from the ether and has a ten-foot wingspan. Not exactly an easy conversation. I’d take the birds and the bees any day.
“But what if he—”
“Penelope, it won’t change anything for him except make him even prouder of you.” Kane kissed my forehead and nudged me toward the stairs.
“Are you sure?”
“Yes, now go. The man is already thinking the worst. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was waiting down there with a shotgun.”
“But he doesn’t…oh. Oh!”
Dad had been giving Kane that look, you know the one that screams if Kane has made and inappropriate advances he’ll pay for it. It had been a month since I pulled Kane out of that cave and Dad found us in bed the next morning. Again. But nothing happened. Well, except for some pretty serious kissing. Kane was a perfect gentleman, mostly; wanting to make sure I was really sure about what I wanted. Apparently Guardians were a lot like penguins in the fact they sort of mated for life. One guy for one girl, forever. Or pretty darn close to forever. Guardians had an extended life expectancy. Like centuries extended. Pretty cool and totally terrifying.
“Yeah, oh.” Kane's lips twitched as he shooed me out of the room. “Go before the man storms up here.”
I stopped just outside the door and peeked back at him over my shoulder. He'd pulled an intimidating book from somewhere and settled back against my headboard looking for all the world like he belonged there. For a split second I thought about joining him but thought better of it. Wouldn't want Dad to find us in bed together. Again.
